hot dorks

sydney white had her seven dorks while i, ms marifosque, have my own set of "dorks".

when: after homeroom period, friday afternoon.

it's just too bad that i didn't have my camera with my when my boys pulled their pe shorts high up their waists and tucked in their pe shirts. the dorks? anton and... was it raynard? then dexter, without his pe uniform (*sigh*), pulled HIS pants high up, tucked in his polo, and wore thick black-rimmed glasses.

welcome to the wacky world of 6G where the jocks and rockers dress up like dorks.

*shakes head*

funny dreams

my sister was laughing her ass off when i was telling them, my family, about my dreams last night.

Dream #1:
i was an expert martial artist and was, for some reason, made to fight this big burly dark-haired guy in a blue muscle shirt. i had daggers/knives as weapons, but i was wondering during my dream where my sword was. lol. anyway, for some reason, the fight was stalled. we entered through different ends of the house. when i first saw my foe, he was carrying daggers/knives nga, but they were shaped like okonomiyaki spatulas. uh... round okonomiyaki spatulas. lol. he was big and his reach was longer so i sort of panicked. all of a sudden, there was this old lady in the dream who got my foe preoccupied, which gave me time to text my brother to get my sword. bwahahaha. okay, at that point it just got completely crazy. the guy and i started fighting and because i was tiny i was able to get close to him (I DON'T KNOW HOW) and stab him. of course, he was a big burly guy so the stab didn't do much damage. i had to TWIST the daggers around while they were stuck in his body before pulling them out - ALL WHILE TRYING TO DODGE HIS ATTACKS. OUCH.

wth right?

Dream #2:
*note: i told my family that i don't know where this dream came from, but my brother said that he mentioned something about a UP fun run.

i was in UP for a fund-raising fun run. we were all gathered in this obscure place that my mind kept placing as the A/S building, but it clearly wasn't because THERE WAS NO BUILDING LOL. anyway, i was there with nobody i knew, but there were a lot of media people there to cover the event.

i didn't get to run because the dream turned into...

Dream #3:
this was the coolest. i had my own sports cars. yes, read that carefully. that's sports cars with an S. plural. i had two sports cars. one was a black convertible, the one i was driving in my dream, and the other was... silver, or gray, or silver/blue. i couldn't quite make it out. i was driving my black sports car around UP. eh. i'm guessing this was "after" the fund-raising fun run.

Dream #4:
This one's the weirdest and the longest of my dreams.

I was riding my super cool pink *gag* motorcycle in the expressway.  So what, right?  The thing is, my motorcycle isn't exactly the type permitted in the expressway because it doesn't meet the required something. engine size? i don't know. anyway, what made it so cool was that it was PORTABLE. hahahahahaha.

there was this accident on the road and of course there were policemen so i had to make sure they didn't see my motorcycle or i'd get written off. my motorcycle transforms into something small (i don't know what. basta maliit) that i carry around WALKING.

my dad pointed out that you can't walk either in the expressway and i told him that the accident was major and there were people stranded so i just made my way past the crowd and the police until the coast was clear and i could ride my super cool pink *gag* motorcycle again.

then it was traffic. and for some strange reason, i was on the back of a trailer-slash-pick up truck. basta weird. i was hobnobbing with.... that family from the robin williams movie with the trailer. eh. there was more but i don't remember anymore.

my dreams last night were HILARIOUS. that's all i can say. i have no idea what they meant, but they were the coolest dreams i've had since forever. the last dream i had was depressing, so this one was a great departure from the sad dreams i've had lately. =)

well how 'bout that?

it's christmas and i'm all cooped up here at home, and i'm ONLINE.

hm. i don't like going out anyway so this, i suppose, is a good thing for me. haha.

anyway, the staying-at-home-and-going-online-blogging isn't the most disturbing thing you may observe about my christmas. perhaps the most disturbing and really quite sad thing about my holiday is that i started it off with WORK and a gigantic HEADACHE.

let's see. last sunday i started looking for a new oral piece because i wasn't quite satisfied with the one we had. i was online for some time looking for the perfect piece and came up with zilch. i ended up with a terrible headache. add to that the fact that i also had a horrible sore throat that forced me to drink water every few minutes, which, in turn, caused me to take a trip to the toilet every hour or so, and forced me to gargle hot water with salt every few hours (only had to do this 2x in a span of 6 hours. it worked!).

needless to say, i took it as a sign to stop working, so i did. i went to bed feeling absolutely awful. it doesn't stop there, though. i dreamt that someone close to me died and that i was giving a eulogy nung... i don't know what you call it. service? i ended up crying, which made my headache worse because of my sinuses, which made me lose sleep. gah.

the next day, christmas eve, was better. the headache was gone but the sore throat was still there, with the threat of an oncoming cold. later that night, the promised cold came. i ended up sniffling all the way to church for the anticipated christmas mass. boo.

and now, christmas day, i'm still sniffling. *sniff and achoo* and yes, i've been sneezing, too. *sigh*

the only good thing about this is that i've been catching up on movies and tv. i've also been stuffing myself silly. from christmas eve until today, i've eaten grilled cheese sandwiches, carbonara, lasagna, my mom's banoffee cake with cinammon and chocolate chip streusel, lechong baboy, lechong manok, calamares, kani maki, pork chop with cauliflower in creamy cheesy sauce, cello's and krispy kreme doughnuts, bottles and bottles of softdrinks, juice, red wine, peach cobbler, fruit salad and TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF CHOCOLATES... ayayayay. sarap sarap sarap. don't be surprised if i end up with 20 additional pounds come january. =)

now, for tomorrow, i need to pick up something from the land of metro manila, then get started on those papers and lesson plan. just thinking about it is giving me another headache.

*sniff* =)

pictures to come soon.

Repost saying: "I've watched ______ Disney Movies out of 82."

one of my best friends had invited me last week to go to the greenhills night market, but we never pushed through with it. last saturday, i saw this girl wearing a cute shirt that i was told came from the night market. AHEM. i had to have it so i texted my friend and asked her if we could push through on monday. she was game, i was game, and so today, we did our shopping.

we stopped over at the theater mall first because flora needed to buy shorts. a couple of shorts and cut-offs caught my eye but none of them fit right. i took it as a sign and didn't buy any.

we passed through the tiangge to get to the night market and saw this stall selling ladies's and men's shirts with filipino (literally) designs. some had the proud manileña text across the chest. other prints include proud bisaya, proud ilokano, future pinay doctor, etc. of course we got shirts, lol. we also got snacks (meringue lang naman and yema), christmas gift tags and something else.

night market. we headed straight to the stall that sold the shirts my friend and i wanted but alas, they were out of stock. boo. we DID reserve ourselves the shirts we wanted from the incoming batch. yeaaaah. =)

then we went to galleria for dinner and more shopping haha. i didn't get much because i didn't bring much money with me, which was all well and good because i would've spent all of it on myself and not on gifts. ah well.

i hate you.

i love you.

i hate you.

i love you.

reunion c/o oliflora texted a couple of days ago to say that oli was in town and was eager to get everybody together for dinner. luckily there was no recollection so i was able to go.

dinner was at 730 at jay-j's grill in ortigas. ana, flora and i were late, but in true filipino fashion, it turns out that EVERYBODY was late. oli was the only one there on time lol.

we got there before 8. oli was with jean, his childhood friend. coni arrived shortly, and we moved upstairs for more room. we IMMEDIATELY launched into a marathon catch up, pausing just very briefly to order dinner. more of oli's regular blockmates arrived. gail and nikko, romina, jasmine, con, kaye, garv and colin (? i don't know who he is), carlo and his girlfriend. ana, flora and i were the only non-regular blockmates so it was a bit awkward at first. we all knew each other, though, because most of us became classmates at one point in our college lives, and we'd see each other in the same buildings, too.

saya sobra especially with all the chismisan, but we three decided it was time to go after dinner and not join them anymore at... somewhere. the original plan was fiama, but i think they decided on somewhere else.

ana and flora and i decided to go to eastwood to catch the last showing of enchanted. we wanted to see it because we saw from the trailers how much fun it seemed. we weren't disappointed. it was so cheesy and jologs that it was so funny hahaha.

and yeah, idina menzel didn't get to sing, boo. oh well.

Writer's Block: Black Friday

When do you start your holiday shopping?
i got my brother a tshirt last week that said - in "got milk?" fashion - got kanin?

it didn't fit him. so now i have to give him a different gift.

i'm going to 168 this friday for bulk purchases for my boys. it'll be payday weekend, plus it's a holiday so we're expecting tons of people there. we're going there EARLY in the morning. gahd i need to make my list already.

why is the title of this entry "black friday"?

Writer's Block: Current Favorites

Tell us your current favorite: book, movie, CD, video game.
now THIS is one Writer's Block i would definitely love to answer. =p

BOOK:   it's The End of the Affair.  i'd read it again and again and again and again........
MOVIE:  ever after. sense and sensibility. i am a GIRL in that sense - my fave movies are chick movies.
CD:        that would be the make  yourself album of incubus tied with the light grenades album
V.GAME: nada. the last video game i played was suikoden 3 and i enjoyed it thoroughly.

max pulan, immortalized

stolen from and_mysticism's lj

my personal favorites are the holocaust and rizal entries. =)

spread the love. :)

here are accurate descriptions of my former lit theory teacher. i stumbled upon it after cleaning my inbox and found unread college egroup mails. So his name is Max Pulan. he is everyone's thesis adviser. totally unforgettable. i'd put it as "Max Pulan won the Tour de France ten times and WITHOUT A BIKE" or "The olympics was born out of Max Pulan's childhood memories of playing jackstones" but then that's just me. If you know the man, THE MAX PULAN, put in a word or two about him. :) i love the greek references and how Max Pulan found himself intertwined in the histories of Astroboy, Darth Vader, and Don Vito Corleone. Classic lit stuff.

Max Pulan does not age, time avoids him because time is afraid of being analyzed.

Max Pulan was not born; he is spawned every morning and returns to the Dark Continent at night.

He is not Duncan MacLeod. He is Max Pulan, the Highlander.

new lj layout

i want a new lj layout design. i've been looking at the new ones that lj's offering, but i'm not really happy with all the Expressive layout themes. i'm quite happy with my classic oswd-something layout. i just want a change in colors and i want a header image. i wonder when i'll find time to do that. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

strange. we were praying the rosary earlier when i had this sudden urge to write - not a blog entry, but FICTION. dammit. i have snippets of it left in my brain but for the most part, what would've been a pretty decent chapter 1 is gone. :(

i bought second-hand books from the palmero garage sale. syempre ang una kong tiningnan ay yung books haha. super konti lang ng books; i bought 3 and a big old 3-subject notebook. how nerdy can you get.

i want to read the time traveller's wife and the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, and, thanks to au, twilight. *sniff* i miss reading. i miss taking THE ENTIRE FREAKIN' DAY curled up in my bed with a good book. no tv, no computer, no cell phones. just my book, the occasional bathroom break, and some spoonfuls of nourishment.

aaaaw. ang lakas ng ulan; ang sarap magbasa pero INIWAN KO YUNG BOOKS SA QC. tangaaaaaa!

tama na rin siguro yon para makapagtrabaho ako. lesson plans and more lesson plans. right.

What Your Latte Says About You

You are very decadent in all aspects of your life. You never scale back, and you always live large.

You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious.

You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast.

You're addicted to caffeine. There's no denying it.

You are a child at heart, and you don't ever miss the opportunity to do something playful.

You are honest and genuine, but you are never tactless.

You Are A Little Snobby

And being a little snobby every once and a while is totally allowed.
Because if no one was ever snobby, no one would ever try to dress up or look pretty.
And while you do enjoy the finest things in life (that you can afford), you tire of superficiality.
You know there's more to life than what's just on the surface.

album plug

kristeeeen! kelan na lalabas album nyo?

Fritz Fredrix's album, I Never Cry, is out now in the market. The album is a mix of soulful ballads, upbeat and catchy songs, and some good old fashioned OPM rock.

PLEASE. (just in case you say i'm being mean. lol)

promise. it's a good album. it's no fall out boy. it's more.............. chris daughtry-ish? with a mix of MYMP (eh duh, fritz was the former vocalist of mymp! di nyo alam yun noh. haha). my music review leaves much to be desired, i know, but again, GO BUY NOW so you can find out how good it is. hokay? good.

so buy, buy, buy! i'd upload the songs here, but i wouldn't be supporting him, now would i?

and i'm in the acknowledgements hahahaha! yun na lang claim to fame ko aside from my grade6 david celdran experience and table tennis match with audrey tan hahaha!

in the footsteps of dreamspinner_

you know, au, you're very inspiring. you wrote about your history with reading and writing, and people followed suit. i wanted to do that, too, but i didn't have time.

THIS one, though, i have time for (luckily).

the top 10 bands i HAVE to see perform live before i die:

1. Incubus (repeat) - i saw them last march 2004... can't wait to see them again. =) i'd love to hear "A Certain Shade of Green" live again, and Vitamin and my new favorite "ROGUES"
2. U2 - i agree with au. they're more my dad's cup of tea, but because papa keeps playing their songs at home whenever he can, they grew on me, and yes, they're HISTORICAL.
3. Yellowcard - "Ocean Avenue" and "The Takedown"
4. Green Day - without the emo-ish American Idiot album songs sana
5. Arctic Monkeys - fun fun fun

okay. top5 lang pala. haha

other bands i'd love to see live:

- marty casey
- switchfoot (sayang i missed them here)
- the killers
- audioslave
- dashboard confessional
- foo fighters
- red hot chili peppers
- kanye west (i'm no fan, but his "Jesus Walks" song blew me away)
- smokey mountain (REUNION!!! the original members with tony lambino and geneva cruz! hahaha)
- spice girls (I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT. but only if i get in for free or with a discount haha)
- lisa loeb (yeah, just to hear "stay" live)

- imago - "sundo" and "akap" and "idlip"
- dicta license - so i thought they were angas back in college, but i LOVE their songs. seen them before in a winston trilogy concert, but i want to see them na sila lang.
- the dawn
- bamboo - i want more than gigs! lol
- sandwich - kahit gig
- kjwan
- kahit gig
- kapatid - kahit gig, better if concert
- teeth (reunion) - "prinsesa" the original and not that !@#$%^&* version by 6cycle mind. huy. baka makita natin si mrs. dizon! lol!

chess champ

that's what this past week was for me. i don't mean it in a bad way, though, because if anything, this week was GREAT. :)

sure i got pissed off in class. sure i hated some of my periods. sure i had bad hair days. but like i said in a previous entry, i was undeniably happy. i never even noticed until flip pointed it out to me. 0.o

i'm not complaining because i was happy even during my heaviest days. things that were SUPPOSED to piss me off didn't. it was good for my mental health, i suppose, but maybe not for my boys who, yesterday, didn't get the proper reprimanding, which is good for their formation as men shining their light for others.

it's just......... weird.

yesterday, after dismissal, i stayed in the classroom to talk to whomever stayed behind also.  besides, i needed to talk to two of my officers. after the "talk," we played a q & a/trivia "game" as a sort of practice for my daily "words of wisdom" mini-contest. one of my officers surprised me with his local and international pop culture knowledge. crazy, but fun.

i was eventually challenged to a game of chess. i knew the moves and the basic rules, but as for strategy... i'd sooner do math problems than strategize my way to winning a chess match. it is truly a game lost on me. it's not that i hate the game; quite the contrary, i actually find it interesting. it's just that it's not my cup of tea.

anyway, i had originally asked one of my boys to help me with my game, but mr. yu arrived so i let him play instead. he explained the rationale behind the moves, which got me wondering about how my boys manage to play chess in record time. you should see them play. bam bam bam! one move after the other and they don't even seem like they're thinking about their moves, but THEY ARE. it's mind-boggling and incredibly impressive.

last night was the gary valenciano inspirational concert. i had the feeling already that it would involve a lot of christian songs, but i never imagined it to turn out like a recollection. wow. gary v would make a great retreat master.

i went to school today to check. and check. and CHECK. i left at around lunch time with bess to go to greenhills for lunch. we saw a couple of grade7 students in kfc. they were in uniform because of the HSEE today. after lunch we went to promenade because i wanted to see if the hobbes and landes branch there carried the game Taboo. my friend has been looking for it for ages, and my room mate had just purchased a set, which we played recently. it was SO much fun that i thought of getting my own set to use for mentoring one of these days and just for some general fun.

luckily, the branch in promenade still had its only box, which i immediately snapped up. i inquired about another set in another branch and they told me that the last one was in rockwell. apparently, the hobbes and landes "company" bought only 6 sets for the entire network of brances to sell. so there was one in The Fort, one in rockwell, and one in promenade. i wasn't sure about TriNoMa, though. i told my friend about the last one in rockwell because i knew that she had been looking for a set since her birthday in May. unfortunately, she didn't take me up on my offer to have it reserved for her. i don't blame her.

back in school... after the long hours of reading writing activities and grading them and recording and checking quizzes and recording, bess, tico, rey and i headed to the mpc for a family mass. in fr. go's homily, i learned about paul potts, winner of simon cowell's new show, "Britain's Got Talent." it was touching. it also reminded me of gary v haha, but it taught me something about faith: that if it takes faith the size of a mustard seed to make a mulberry bush move, then i have faith the size of the smallest grain of sand or salt, whichever is smaller. it was kind of disturbing and sad at the same time. :(

oh well. life's weird, really. i just hope next week will be better.

The Ateneo Battle

sorry kung huli na ako sa balita ha, pero ngayon ko lang nabasa ito. sobrang tawang-tawang-tawa ako and i wasn't even laughing at the la salle/ust jokes hahahahaha.

those who are not ateneans will never understand this story, lol.

not even halfway through the week and i'm dead tired already. methinks i shall go to bed in lieu of watching Ugly Betty on studio 23 tonight.

i don't know how people are able to manage multiple tasks and stay sane and healthy and pretty (syempre kasama ito, lol). seriously though. HOW do they do it?

the verdict

Reluctance Towards Action

my opinions are similar to those stated in these two blog entries. i'm in a rather lazy mood now so i'm just going to link to these.

the verdict?

perjury = acquitted
plunder = guilty

what's going to happen to him now? what's going to happen to US now?

erap verdict?

nahilo ako sa sinabi ni jose sa kanyang multiply.

because this is an important milestone for our country, i'm trying to keep myself updated on what's happening. i don't do that often so hooray for me.

anyway, i agree with what jose said. why didn't we pursue the issue with PGMA's "alleged" cheating during the elections? who cares if it took years? i mean, the erap trial lasted for a good number of years, but here we are, finally with a verdict. my only hope is that nobody pulls off a dramatic interlude and postpone the reading of the verdict. gawd. let's just get it over with please. then maybe we can go after PGMA.

i remember back in high school our batch gathered in the AVR (we had a big AVR and 151 students) to watch the reading of the verdict of the vizconde massacre trial. it was a big thing back then, but all we could talk about was how someone so cute could do something so horrible. hey. it was high school.
